Mitsubishi officially prices 2011 HDTVs including a 92-inch DLP and 75-inch LaserVue
Other manufacturers may say they're living large with their latest HDTVs, but Mitsubishi's "Go Big" slogan is supported by the biggest displays available for 2011. It's finally revealed details on the models, with new features including a clearer screen and 16 speaker soundbar with support for a wireless subwoofer on its top of the line 840-series that includes the 92-inch model (pictured above) we saw at CES. The other big addition for 2011 is support for Mitsubishi's iOS remote control app in the LaserVue TV as well as the 740 and 840 series DLPs. If you don't need those features, a built in IR emitter for 3D glasses or Stream TV Vudu Apps then look at the lower end 640-series rear projection sets. Still, no matter what the trim level, the new Mitsubishi is strictly a 73-inch and over TV manufacturer so it's definitely going to be big, whether it's the 840 series that ships in July or any of the other models that will be available this month. Specs and MSRPs are in the press release after the break, from the 73-inch 640 series for $1,599 all the way up to the $5,999 92-inch.

Toshiba's Regza GL1 3DTVs going on sale in Japan tomorrow, no glasses required
The panacea of glasses-free 3D displays (or content) might not yet be upon us, but Toshiba's doing its best by putting the two models in its Regza GL1 family up for sale in Japan. Tomorrow marks the debut of the smaller 12GL1, spanning a 12-inch diagonal and offering the unconventional resolution of 466 x 350. That's expected to be priced at ¥120,000 ($1,431), exactly half of the ¥240,000 ($2,863) asking price of the 20GL1, which will follow it swiftly with retail availability on December 25th. The latter display has the decency to come equipped with a more civilized 720p resolution and 550:1 contrast ratio, although, as you can see above, neither panel can be accused of being unnecessarily thin or space-efficient. Still, this parallax barrier stuff is the best we've got for the moment -- and as usual the best we've got resides in Japan only.
Update: The Wall Street Journal reports that Toshiba is planning larger members of this glasses-free 3D family with a panel of over 40 inches in the cards for the company's next fiscal year, which begins in April 2011. More to come at CES in January.

Toshiba uveils Glasses-less 3D REGZA GL1 LCD TV
Today at Japan’s electronics expo CEATEC 2010, Toshiba unveiled the world’s first LCD TVs that don’t require dedicated glasses. The new “Glasses-less 3D REGZA GL1″ series will be available in Japan from the end of December and is offered for now in two models 12- inch and 20-inch.To achieve a 3D image without need of glasses, whatever the position and angle to the screen of the viewer, the new Regza GL1 family utilize a special perpendicular lenticular sheet (an array of lenses) and Toshiba’s image processing technology to create nine parallax images from the original content and create to 3D
The first two models from the series are 20-inch 20GL1 and 12-inch 12GL1. Both displays have a LED backlit LCD Panel with 1,280 x 720 resolution-550:1 JEITA contrast ratio for 20GL1 and 466 x 350 with contrast: 500:1 for 12GL1, and for better viewing experience Toshiba suggests viewing distance of 90cm away from the 20-inch display and 65cm from the 12 panel.
